Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by low bone mass and micro architectural deterioration of bone tissue, leading to increased bone fragility and a greater potential for fracture. We have been measuring the BMD (Bone Mineral Density) for more than 40 years, and from now on, we are able to complete this data by numerous other parameters.
It is now also used for:

Orthopedic: the density around prosthesis.

Podiatry: for children growth and bone age surveillance.

Study of the whole body composition: fat, lean percentage and so on.
The osteoporosis who presents silent symptoms has become a central concern. According to the IOF (International Osteoporosis Foundation), osteoporosis affects approximately 75 million people in Europe, the United States and Japan (figure expected to double within 50 years), and is estimated to affect 200 million women worldwide.
